16 Oct GENESIS Biomed, sponsor of BIOSPAIN 2025, has been involved in the event with active participation

BIOSPAIN, the largest biotechnology event organised by a national bioindustry association in Europe, closed its 12th edition in Barcelona on October 9 after three days of events with AseBio as organiser and the collaboration of Biocat, Generalitat de Catalunya and Barcelona City Council, with the sponsorship of GENESIS Biomed as silver sponsor.
BIOSPAIN 2025 has closed its 12th edition with figures that confirm its leadership in Europe: more than 2,400 attendees from 34 countries, 250 exhibitors, 140 investors, 4,500 one-to-one meetings and 43 startup pitches. For three days, Barcelona was the epicentre for forging alliances and fostering international collaborations, positioning Spain as a benchmark platform for biotech innovation. In this context, the organisers have announced a major strategic decision: BIOSPAIN is changing from being held every two years to every year, a cadence that will accelerate investment, partnering and knowledge transfer, as well as giving continued visibility to projects and companies. The event venues will also alternate in order to promote the country’s different innovation hubs.
GENESIS Biomed is aware of the importance of this event as an accelerator of the biotechnology sector and has committed itself to its participation, sponsoring the 2025 edition once again and thus demonstrating its involvement and support for the sector’s main driving force. The GENESIS Biomed team held 46 one-to-one meetings and numerous additional meetings at the corporate stand, which led to the establishment of more than 20 new contacts. In the words of its partners and founders, Josep Lluís Falcó and Natalia de la Figuera, “BIOSPAIN has become the benchmark event in the biotechnology sector; its annual celebration will help to boost the sector, making Spain a relevant biotechnology HUB within the European ecosystem”. GENESIS Biomed was particularly well represented, with the attendance of CEO Josep Lluís Falcó, COO Natalia de la Figuera, Jordi Ortiz and Joan Carles Fernández (directors of different areas of the company), as well as senior manager Agostino Romeo. Both Josep Lluís Falcó and Agostino Romeo have maintained an intense agenda of meetings with companies and research institutions in the health sector, reinforcing the positioning of the firm as a strategic consultancy for the development of innovative projects.
Among the company’s most outstanding actions during BIOSPAIN 2025 was the organisation of the round table “AI in the Healthcare sector: driving innovation, investment and regulation”, moderated by COO Natalia de la Figuera, which brought together more than 150 attendees. Relevant stakeholders participated in the round table covering a wide range of areas where AI can have a great impact: private funding (Luis Pareras, Managing Partner at Invivo Partners), the pharmaceutical industry (César Velasco Muñoz, Director of Science and Innovation at AstraZeneca), regulation (Claire Murphy, Partner at Tecno-Med Ingenieros), the legal and contractual framework (Ignasi Costas, Partner at Rousaud Costas Duran) and intellectual and industrial protection (Gustavo Fuster, Director at Hoffmann Eitle).
With a clearly successful edition and the move to an annual format, BIOSPAIN reinforces its role as a driving force for the Spanish biotech ecosystem. GENESIS Biomed reaffirms its commitment and interest in participating in the next edition, which will take place in Bilbao. SEE YOU SOON!
